Assessing your Windows 11 migration progress got even better

In July, ControlUp introduced a Windows 11 Readiness dashboard, designed to identify and report on devices within your environment that do not meet Microsoft’s system requirements for an upgrade to Windows 11. Today, we are announcing various improvements to the dashboard providing deeper insights and insights into the progress IT teams are making when getting closer to the EOS date of Windows 10.

As of October 14, 2025, Microsoft will stop providing security updates, technical assistance, and software updates for Windows 10. After this date, continued support will require a paid plan for each Windows 10 device in your environment. In this blog, we will highlight the major enhancements in this new version, which simplify the process of identifying compliant devices and provide clearer explanations for why certain devices are incompatible with Windows 11.

The first improvement we made is the addition of the top row of widgets that provide IT teams with at-a-glance information about the assessed environment.

In the upper left, you will see a pie graph displaying all your evaluated devices running any version of the Windows operating system currently with a breakdown of how many devices are running Windows 11, how many devices are Windows 11 Ready, and how many devices require hardware change or need to be replaced.  As you move to the right, the “Unavailable” widget shows you how many devices have not been evaluated in your environment, maybe because they were offline, there was an error during the assessment or are Windows Server versions or run as VMs (which have different requirements than physical Windows devices).

As you keep moving right, you will find a series of widgets with more details and information that could be relevant to your Windows 11 migration project, such as Windows devices you have, what percentage of them are migrated already, how many days there are left until the EOS date, and what the cost would be for extending support for the remainder of the devices that have not been upgraded after October 14, 2025 based on Microsoft public MSRP pricing.

The “Migration Percentage” widget also shows you how you compare to the overall ControlUp customer base.

The middle section of the dashboard consists of a series of dynamic widgets that show the number of devices broken down by the way they are categorized after each assessment. Each individual widget is clickable, and when you select one, the horizontal bar charts below it will automatically update providing additional details relevant for that category. The updated color-coding makes it easier to navigate the dashboard.

The horizontal bar charts will provide you with the option to look at the devices in each category in different ways. The default grouping of devices in the charts is by device Model, but you can quickly change this by clicking the drop-down menu. Options include looking at the date by device group or tag, by Windows operating system version or by location.

Finally, at the bottom of the dashboard you will find all the relevant device details, just like in the old dashboard. This list will also dynamically change based on your selection in the widgets above. From this list you can also jump to a specific device and get all the detail and capabilities that ControlUp’s DEX platform has to offer, including detailed experience metrics, remediation tools and remote assistance capabilities.

The new Windows 11 Readiness Report provides a comprehensive and dynamic tool for assessing your organization’s transition to Windows 11. With the end of support for Windows 10 approaching in October 2025, this updated report not only identifies devices that meet the new system requirements but also offers detailed insights into why certain devices are not compatible. By leveraging these enhanced features, organizations can better plan their upgrade paths, manage costs, and ensure a smooth transition to Windows 11, maintaining security and support for their IT infrastructure.
